Please vote for us each day!
This link will take you to the anz courtside grant scheme. We are desperate for some new netball uniforms and it would be amazing if our school was chosen for the grant. Please vote for us! You have 1 vote per day (per email address if you have more than one). Thanks!!!!!

Junior Netball Programme for Years 1 & 2
I attended a primary delegates meeting where we have been informed of a new programme being implemented within netball kapiti.
This will take you to the Netball Central Zone website and if you click on Community Netball and scroll down to Junior Netball, you can read up about the reasons behind the programme and the changes that will unfold thoughout 2014.
I would like to see Waikanae School provide this opportunity for our younger students.
I will be notifying everyone as soon as I have more information as numbers may be capped from each school. I can however inform you that:
* It will take place at Te Atiawa Courts (where we play Saturday netball)
* Structure will be a 20 minute skill session followed by 20 minute game
* Uses only 1/3 of the court
* Begins with only 4 players and builds as the children grow with the game
* No uniforms
* 4-5pm
* Parents can learn and develop their netball knowledge with their child/ren
*No experience needed
* Small netball provided for each team (6-7 children)
* At least 1 parent helper per team
What we do know is that eventually this programme will develop and ultimately phase out the future ferns. (No more rotations - Hooray!!)

Fees for netball 2014
Apologies for not being able to inform you all of the netball fees this year. The association have not made a definite decision on the registration fees for primary teams. Hopefully this will have been decided by next week. I can however inform you all that Waikanae Primary School netball fees will be higher than previous years. We have tried so hard to keep the cost as low as possible but with higher fees from Netball New Zealand flowing down to our zone the association have no choice but to increase the fees.

Umpire Training - ADULTS
Hi All,
Vanessa Gray and Elaine Houston are running an Adults Primary Umpiring course at Te Atiawa Courts Centre -
Adults Umpiring Primary
Sunday 2nd March - 10am - 12noon - Theory Session
Sunday 9th March - 10am - 12noon - Practical Session
These sessions are aimed at those Adult umpires who have been umpiring primary for 2-3 years and would like to develop their skills to the next level.
Places are limited to 20 and ideally it would be the same people attending both days to achieve continuity. This will strengthen the connection between knowing the rules and having the ability to apply them in a number of situations.
(If numbers are too low - less than 6 - sessions will be postponed until numbers increase.)
For the Practical Session, attendees are required to have their own whistle, drink bottle and appropriate footwear.
Please register your interest to Brigid at admin@netballkapiti.org.nz< mailto:admin@netballkapiti. org.nz> - providing your name, school and umpiring experience. Close off for registration is 27th of February 2014
Please note: An Introductory to Primary Umpiring will be run in April 2014 for those who are newer to umpiring.
Thanks
Brigid McKenzie | Netball Kapiti Administrator
